This is likely because we didn’t really watch movies like normal this year. After two years of a pandemic, we weren’t only excited for a good story. We wanted the spectacle, community, and popcorn of a movie theater.  After all, the main message audiences have received when sitting down in a theater is that going to the movies is way better than streaming at home.  From Tom Cruise thanking movie-goers before Top Gun: Maverick to Nicole Kidman’s now-infamous AMC ad, the film industry is still teetering between traditional cinemas and at-home streaming.  In 2022, we got some great movies that reminded us why Nicole Kidman is right and going out to the movies can be better. We also got smaller films like The Banshees of Inisherin, a streaming success with Glass Onion, and surprising, yet touching, movies like Marcel the Shell with Shoes On. Whether you’re into big films at the theaters, small films at home, or everything everywhere all at once, what do you think will or should win this year’s Golden Globes?
